Carrying Comfort

Carrying Comfort

This past week has been hard in grief.  Remembering how much our son loved the camp that our younger son is attending, wells up feelings that stay away most weeks.  Combatting tears, I visited his gravesite.  This may not sound comforting to most, but to me it brings peace.

As I brought out the red, white and blue to shine things up a bit at the cemetery, I felt someone standing above me.  When I looked up, it took a moment to realize it was our son Connor’s friend from high school.  He looked handsome and grown up sporting his dress clothes from work.  As I rose to hug him, he smiled and said that he was driving by and wanted to give me a hug and let me know how much he loved our family.  Joe was respectful as he smiled and walked away.  A waterfall of tears fell, as he left.

He gave the gift of his time, smile, kind words and a hug.  I could ask for nothing more.  I pray that his Mother knows how her son’s character made a difference this week.

Acknowledging pain means to walk in, not walk away.  The bible verse below reminds us that God draws near to us in our time of need, we should do the same for others, no matter how uncomfortable it may be.

“Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of compassion and the God of all comfort, who comforts us in all our troubles, so that we can comfort those in any trouble with the comfort we ourselves receive from God.” 2 Corinthians 1:3-4

Joe showed up when he had opportunity.  He gave a hug and kind words to this Mama when she needed them.  Carry the comfort of Christ to the hurting people in your life.

God continues to provide comfort through others when we least expect it.  Look up, you will find his love.

Thank you Joe…Peace & Blessings,

MamaC
