Salty or lightly seasoned?

Salty or lightly seasoned?

Angry, agitated or upset…Salty, a new meaning behind an old word.  I laughed the first time Connor said, “Oh! Mom is salty!”  It actually takes quite a bit to bring me to “salty” these days.  How about you?

I’ll be hitting a milestone later this year in the birthday department.  I choose to believe that like some wine, we get finer with age and do not lose savor.   The condition that wine is kept in after bottling can also influence how well a wine ages.  The quality of an aged wine varies significantly bottle-by-bottle, depending on the conditions under which it was stored, and the condition of the bottle and cork, and thus it is said that rather than good old vintages, there are good old bottles.  Our lives can be like an aging bottle of wine.  The conditions under which we have lived, our experiences of  love, loss and learning, all bring us to the quality of life we lead today.  Quality, meaning how we chose to see and embrace life, by our attitude.

Do you have a salty, or savory good ole vintage attitude?  There are days where we all feel trampled down by circumstances.  The weight of this world is upon us, desperately seeking to drag us down.  No matter how low life seems, there is always another real life story, that can push us back into the reality of how blessed our life truly is.  Once you see that light, stay focused on it.  The light of the world is forever a game changer. When Jesus spoke again to the people, he said, “I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will never walk in darkness, but will have the light of life.”  John 8:12.

Do not hide the light that has been given to you.  When you find it, hold tightly to it and shine bright.  The biggest regret you could have in life is not taking the actions you know you should have.  Do not regret waiting, while time passes you by.  You have power in your actions.  It may not be easy.  Set your light out in the darkness so that others may see and believe.

Walk outside, look up, be happy and know that you are chosen to shine.

Always count your blessings!

You are the salt of the earth. But if the salt loses its savor, how can it be made salty again? It is no longer good for anything, except to be thrown out and trampled by men. You are the light of the world. A city on a hill cannot be hidden. Neither do people light a lamp and put it under a basket. Instead, they set it on a lamp stand, and it gives light to everyone in the house.  In the same way, let your light shine before men, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven.…Matthew 5:14-16.
