Did you call?

Did you call?

I’ve spent most of my life wondering what my calling was.  When you begin college you are called to declare a field or major.  Some of us declare and then realize we really just don’t know what we would like to do with our life.  It is a daunting task to try and figure out our direction into the future.  It’s troubling when others seem to just know their calling while so many are “undecided”.  I can tell you that there are many people as old as me 🙂 that still wonder if they are fulfilling their calling.

There are events in our lives that stop us in our tracks and make us really think.  Is what I’m choosing to do with my life really making a difference in someone else’s life?  I believe that if you are a parent, that answer would always be a yes.  Raising children is a most important task in this life.  I have two friends that have chosen to raise many adopted children, some with disabilities and give of themselves continuously.  One has over a dozen children and she home schools them all!  There is not a doubt in my mind that they are moving mountains daily with these blessed children.  I do not believe we get to Heaven by acts we do here on earth.  We already have that gift given to us through Jesus’s death on the cross.  I do believe that God has made us all unique with special gifts to give one another.  If you love what you do and it truly comes from your heart, you will never work a day in your life.  It’s not about a job or money, it’s about joy and giving to others.

When thinking of how you can give to others this holiday season, take time to pray about how your individual gift could benefit someone.  Not gifts that are store bought, but gifts you have inside your heart.  You are chosen by God to shine with your gifts given to you, by Him.  Find yours and share it!

Peace and Blessings!
