Life without Faith…
The bible never promises an easy life. It tells us to have faith that we are not alone. Many may not understand your walk, but know that your purpose in this life is important and not forgotten. I will forever remember Pastor Shank standing next to me as I wept over our motionless son. He said, “Who knows better than He that gave His son, so that those that believe in Him, shall have eternal life?” I was grateful for his reminder and that he followed us that night into the unknown. God’s plan may not have been for our son to live that night, yet He sent a messenger to remind us that He would never fail us.
There are times we experience fear, anger and resentment of that forever question, “Why me?” It can rise up and temporarily overcome our hearts and minds. It can take us to dark places of worry. Will it happen to me? Will it happen again? How can I control this? These exact thoughts are WHY we must know that WE are NOT in control of our destiny. When prayers seem to go unanswered, we are hurt and confused. Yet, did we stop long enough to listen, see or hear the answers? In this world filled with noise, that means spending time with God in prayer and reading His word. Who has time for that these days?! When your day is going haywire…just stop. He wants your attention. Pray and open your heart to God. Talk to Him. He DOES answer. We MUST be willing to see the answers and they MAY not be what we have hoped for. Having faith is letting go and finding peace in the chaos of this world. Know that it is during these times that there are ONLY one set of footprints in the sand, for He is carrying us.
When you are fearful, remember…”Jesus stepped into a boat, crossed over and came to his own town. Some men brought to him a paralyzed man, lying on a mat. When Jesus saw their faith, he said to the man, “Take heart, son; your sins are forgiven.”
At this, some of the teachers of the law said to themselves, “This fellow is blaspheming!”
Knowing their thoughts, Jesus said, “Why do you entertain evil thoughts in your hearts? Which is easier: to say, ‘Your sins are forgiven,’ or to say, ‘Get up and walk’? But I want you to know that the Son of Man has authority on earth to forgive sins.” So he said to the paralyzed man, “Get up, take your mat and go home.” Then the man got up and went home. When the crowd saw this, they were filled with awe; and they praised God, who had given such authority to man. Matthew 9:1-8
