Seeds of thankfulness
In the Spring of 2013, I was lying on the floor stretching, when I spied a package peeking out from under a stack of movies. It was an unexpected supply of flower seeds. The packing slip inside revealed our oldest son had ordered them. I could not imagine what our 17 year old would need with seeds. The look on his face as I inquired about said package, was one of surprise and confusion.
He explained that the seeds were for me for Mother’s Day the next weekend. Seriously? I asked. Twenty eight packets of seeds seemed a bit excessive to me. “Well mom, you DO love flowers!” Later that day I looked up the type of seed. Much to my surprise they were not only beautiful, but when you chew the seeds they give a “high” effect. Hmmm…
Needless to say, he was smart young man discovering ways to try out the teenage “fun” in life. We never planted those flowers…
Swing forward to October 15, 2019. The five year anniversary of our son’s promotion to heaven was a mere three days away. I received an email, in HIS inbox that I cannot seem to get rid of. A state of disbelief turned quickly into hysterical laughter! Out of the BLUE, a message from Park Seed, the infamous Mother’s Day gift from 2017. I searched back to see if he had previously received emails from them. Surely I would have noticed this. Not one email from Park Seed.
For over a month now, his inbox daily gifts me a reminder of our boy. I know I’m odd, but do you see gifts in grief? I smile and wonder how this all really works.
May the peace of God, laughter and the blessing of food fill your lives today and always. Happy Thanksgiving from me and Park Seed!
Peace & Blessings,
MamaC
