Lessons from Dad…
It’s not WHERE you live, it’s HOW you live.
My Dad is the oldest boy of five children. His childhood presented traumatic challenges. He lacked leadership in his young life. He worked before and after school to provide for his family. He grew up poor in wealth, yet rich in spirit.
It’s not WHAT you wear, it’s HOW you wear it.
When I was born, he was 18. He wanted MORE for his family. When he married my mom, I was told, all he owned was a white t-shirt, a pair of Levi’s and a smile.
It’s not having a DEGREE, it’s TO WHAT degree, you CHOOSE to live!
What he OWNED, was knowledge.
He realized he could be better than he was.
Driving to get a good job and DID,
by showing up everyday to a company,
that HAD NOT yet hired him.
It’s not WHEN you begin, it’s understanding you MUST begin.
As our family grew up together, our pantry was always stocked. Our yard was immaculate. He took care of what he worked for. If something was broken, he took it apart. If it didn’t go back together, he replaced it. Quit was a four letter word.
It’s not how MUCH time you have, it’s WHAT you do with that time.
He INVESTED in his family. He provided more than our basic needs. He wasn’t there for everything I DID. He was WORKING so that I could DO.
It’s not YOUR destination, it’s WHO you take on your journey.
He wasn’t perfect, he made mistakes. When plan A didn’t work, he made another. Helping others succeed was his path. He never forgets where he came from. His beginnings, became my benefit.
It’s NOT about me or my dad, it’s about you and GOD our Father.
God gives each of us different gifts. Talents we are blessed with. Take the avenue to YOUR unique journey. Add value to others along the way. We move in the direction we are looking. Look Up!

Lift up your eyes and look to the heavens: Who created all these? He who brings out the starry host one by one and calls forth each of them by name. Because of his great power and mighty strength, not one of them is missing. Isaiah 40:26
