Good Friday?

Good Friday?

On this Good Friday I think of the gift of eternal life freely given to us and I am truly grateful.  As I stood over our son lying motionless in the hospital and our Pastor stood next to me, he spoke these words, “who knows better than your Father in heaven about losing His son?”  I looked up to him and was momentarily brought back from hysteria.  As a mother who has lost her son, Good Friday has deeper meaning to me than ever.  These words may seem shallow.  I think, for goodness sake, did you not understand before?!  Being told something for years and experiencing it first hand is extremely different.

How can a day of death be good?  Good Friday is…Jesus suffering, endured on the cross, in God’s plan, to save us all from our sins.  As a believer in Christ, I am grateful to Him for the sacrifice of His life and ultimate resurrection that we call Easter. All who believe in this through Jesus, have been gifted with eternal life.  I am an everyday mom and a poor miserable sinner, that loves the Lord with all my heart.  Never have I been so grateful for this free gift of eternal life by the suffering of God’s son.  I certainly wish that it had not taken the loss of our own son, for me to truly realize the sacrifice.  I was raised in the church and listened every week.  It only took me 48 years to truly understand. 🙂

Faith is sometimes birthed out of difficulties.  I pray that you have faith and that it deepens, not weakens you.  God has given me strength and direction through prayer.  We must talk to him.  I am here to witness that He DOES answer.  It may not be in ways we expect or even desire, but He does.  I say this, not because it is convenient for me now, but I have had MANY answered prayers.  In grief, there are days that can nearly drown someone.  Each of these times, He sends me a sign, a friend, an angel, a note to keep me afloat.

Come near to God in His house not only this weekend, but weakly and see how He will make you stronger.  Believe me when I say, He gives peace that passeth all understanding.  I pray that you look up to Christ and be grateful this weekend as we celebrate the gift of eternal life.  Have a blessed Easter my friends.
