Why Look Up Be Happy?

Look Up Be Happy was created in the hopes of helping others that may be experiencing loss.  On October 18, 2014 we lost our son Connor, in a tragic accident.  He was hit by a car crossing the street nine weeks into his freshman year at college.  He was our oldest child and certainly adored by his four younger siblings.  In the weeks after our loss, it was placed on my heart to begin Look Up Be Happy.  This blog is meant to be a “real” look into our journey of life before and after losing our son.  I pray it lifts you up, brings a level of understanding, and often, a smile to your face.

What about the logo?  The Look Up Be Happy logo was originally created only two short weeks after Connor left us.  The Look Up, indicates looking up to God each day according to his plan.  Inside the two O’s, in Look are our son Connor Cunningham’s initials.   The arrow points upward in the U to remind us to always look up.  The cross, shown in the P upon a hill, representing Christ’s love as he died for us on Calvary.  Amazingly enough, the initials JD shown in the word Up representing Jordan Dupy, Connor’s dear friend.  Jordan went to his Heavenly home on December 21, 2014.  The star in place of the letter A in Happy, reminds us to shine and give light to others always.

I know there is nothing better for people than to be happy and to do good while they live.  Ecclesiastes 3:12

Chosen to Shine is a non-profit, formed in 2015, in memory of Connor and Jordan. 

Our mission:  To give young adults hope for their future through faith, fellowship, music and motivation, with opportunity to serve others, leaving everyone in the knowledge that they matter and are chosen to SHINE!

Our Chosen to Shine team consists of an adult board and a college board.  We join together to plan opportunities for the youth of our community to SHINE.  We will be announcing events on our website Chosentoshine.com this Summer.

Our Vision:

To present the “big picture” in life through the foundation of faith, giving inspiration by looking up in our daily lives. We practice this by paying it forward, developing opportunities to shine in our walk by faith.

Our mission is not just to motivate, but to let our light shine before others, so that they may see our good deeds and give glory to God!

The Chosen to Shine logo shows the CROSS as the center of our lives and the stars being Chosen to Shine just as our son Connor and dear Jordan did, in their short time, here in this earthly life.  The stars dropping down from shine, represent both Connor and Jordan.  There is no doubt, they would want for us…to continue to shine.

In the same way, let your light SHINE before others, that they may see your good deeds, and glorify your Father in Heaven.  Matthew 5:16
