She EG…

She taught our oldest children in preschool, beginning at age 3.  She stood by our side as we went through public school meetings (working for Lutheran schools) evaluating needs for our children born from our hearts, only five short years ago.  She went to the school meetings as our friend and a qualified person, that understood the lingo and process when we did not.  She welcomed all our children into Trinity Lutheran School, one by one, over the years.

The night we received that call, all parents pray they never get, she was standing there ready to help.  Literally, standing right in front of us…asking where our kids were, who was with them?  She made calls and directed people that offered to help.  She went to our home to stay with our children until that dreaded confirmation of our son, was made.  She held the phone as I delivered the tragic news to our children.  She went into our youngest’s room when the cries of anguish woke them up, to redirect and comfort.

She stayed all night with our youngest so that we could attend a memorial at our son’s college four hours away.  She took them to school and made sure they were okay throughout the next day.  She called or sent an email, giving us a heads up, on days when our kids were struggling with change.  She always goes above and beyond her calling.

God bless her, on her move to a new call, another state, new students and families.  They will soon know how blessed they will be, by her dedication and love for others.  She will take a part of our hearts with her.   We know how blessed we were to call her Principal Gooden and most importantly friend.

When love shines this brightly in a persons heart, you can’t help but feel it’s warmth and sunshine.

Look up, Be happy, Shine on!
