Present weakness and resurrection life…
As I woke with tears this morning, the world was tumbling down upon me. Sometimes this happens and it is always unexpected. Loss is all around us and has seeped into our lives heavily this week. Looking up to find happiness and understanding is how I live and mainly because I am sad in this world today. God draws me to his word to find the strength or comfort necessary to lift me back to where I need to be for Him. I believe with all my heart that God does speak to us through his word, if we will only listen and pray. “Old me” would fret, worry and think, “how can I solve this issue in my life?” God made me capable and I am in control. This “Old me” was only seven months ago.
Early today, I found myself thinking how unfair things were. Have you ever read the daily devotional “Jesus Calling?” I am drawn to it each morning. It always feels as if the words are speaking directly to me each day. There are bible passages at the end for you to read that point out in God’s word what is being said in the daily readings. I am certain that they lead me to read more of His word each day. I cannot stop at just one verse that has been laid out. Today it took me to 2 Corinthians 5:7 “For we walk by faith, not by sight.” Walk by faith, just happens to be what is permanently imprinted on my foot.
I read the scripture before and after this verse. It was in 2 Corinthians chapters 4-5 that strength was found for today. In it, I found the peace I was seeking in both present weakness and the promise of eternal life. Each Sunday for years I would find myself in bible class with a Pastor that I have the utmost respect for. I was struggling and did not always understand God’s word. I read the bible and thought to myself, how am I going to keep reading this when I don’t really understand? It all seems so vast and wow! all the commandments to follow! I’m not sure I can do this! Today, I can tell you that I can’t do it. God does this for me, I only need to open my eyes, stay in His word and follow.
Chosen to shine is the non-profit God has been leading me to. I pray daily that it helps others. Life is about love, plain and simple. If we could only have the love Christ had for us, this world would not be so difficult. It is not about what thrill can we have next, it is about loving one another in peace. It is not about judging others on how well they can do a job or not, it is about how much love you see in their hearts. Some may say this is naive thinking, but this is what I read in God’s word. As I doubted today that I was a Chosen child of God, put here for a purpose, I read…
For God, who said, “Let light shine out of darkness,” has shone in our hearts to give the light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Jesus Christ. 2 Corinthians 4:6
Love one another as Christ has loved you! Shine on in His love… for you ARE Chosen to Shine!
