Look up, be thankful!
Our life here on earth is so temporary. On this day filled with food and indulgence, “Taste and see that the Lord is good; blessed is the one who takes refuge in Him.” Psalm 34:8.
As our family celebrates why we are thankful today, we are with such great loss of our son, brother, cousin, nephew, grandson and friend, Connor. Each year I have taken a picture of our family with our children and titled it “thankful”. This year is no different on why I am thankful. Sadness is with me today. I miss our “fine boy” dearly! Thanks be to God that I have peace as I know I will see him again. My mother always told me that patience is a virtue. I believe this is: to endure discomfort without complaint. Connor despised complaints. I find that I must now wait without complaint. My adult version of “you get what you get and you don’t throw a fit!”
May you all enjoy your time today on this day of Thanksgiving and remember to love one another, have joy in today, make peace with those who have sinned against you, as forgiveness is powerful, show restraint and tolerance, be kind to your family, study God’s goodness through His word, walk by faith, choose gentleness as nothing is won by force, and last but not least on this day of many feasts there is self control. A sign in my kitchen states, “Life is short, eat dessert first!” Everyday I pray for forgiveness and grace!
“I have told you these things, so that in me you may have peace. In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world.” John 16:33
Thinking of you on this Thanksgiving and finding peace and inspiration in your words. It has gotten easier to smile through the tears and delight in the memories. Today it is memories of Thanksgiving afternoons spent pouring through ads and making lists; Black Friday shopping trips from pre dawn til dusk. Tomorrow Morgan has decided she will take mom’s place by my side (not pre-dawn but maybe around ten??) and more precious being made.
LoVe You so much friend, your strong faith inspires me! I hope you have a blessed Thanksgiving.
you are loved
